October 12th 2021:
Our recent tour of the migration museum was a great day out! Naturally we all had to admire the GJ Rechner paving stone in Settlement Square. It was also fascinating hearing stories of the various immigrants to South Australia, who have brought so much knowledge, culture and history with them. We are all definitely the richer for it. It’s good to understand ways in which the experience of the Barossa settlers is similar to that of many others, and ways in which it differs. And to feel just a little bit proud of what our ancestors have done….
The other lovely part of the day was connecting with family members, some whom we met for the first time. We went out for afternoon tea after the tour, which was the perfect way to finish off a very interesting afternoon.
